A Mardi Gras-themed saloon is set to open in the coming weeks on a stretch of Avenue B near East Third Street that has weathered its share of neighbors-versus-nightlife spats in the past.
The new bar Billy Hurricane’s, as well as a smaller sister bar downstairs, aims to bring a taste of Louisiana to the East Village, from Cajun cuisine to a New Orleans-inspired aesthetic, its owners explained.

The Village Pourhpuse located at 64 East Third Avenue at 11th Street is currently looking for experienced Line Cooks. Little Printz Cafe was approved for their "global jewish" restaurant at 40 Avenue B. The owners plan to serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner and create a menu that draws more from Mediterranean and European tradition than something like Katz's.
New, extremely busy East Village Cuban restaurant and rum cocktail bar is seeking a Doorman/Maître d' for a part-time position. Responsibilities will include managing the wait list, checking identification and seating guests, as well as generally helping to expedite service. The position will be Thursday through Saturday approximately 7PM-2AM, as well as managing the floor on Monday nights from 5PM to approximately 2AM. Management shifts will include closing out and handling the money. Must be professional, responsible, well-presented and friendly. Must be an excellent multi-tasker. Knowledge of POS systems is preferable, as is past experience in a comparable role. However, we are willing to train the right person.
